In the midst of uncertainty, paint new pictures and tell new stories
This week brought me the energy to complete paintings in progress, and find some improbable tales to tell about them too.

Hello friends, if you live in the U.S.A. right now, you know that every day we are all handling many ongoing challenges. It can feel overwhelming and is certainly exhausting. I hope you are well and finding space and peace for yourself, even in the midst of this rough time.
One of the ways I deal with it all is by paying attention to the creatives, those who are showing up regardless, doing their work and sharing it for anyone who cares to see. As an artist, I love the energy that art brings. Artists and creatives create new pictures, and help us all heal, and remember who we are and why we are here.
I found the space and energy to finish up some paintings that have been hanging around the studio for a while, and even wrote up some stories to tell you. See them in this week’s newsletter.
Thank you for being here, I always appreciate you for showing up.
Love, Kris

Unzipping the Cosmos
I was making my nightly rounds between the Galamalfrey Cluster and Asteroid Nancy one night last week, riding my usual cosmic route on the way back to the pod, when I heard something that sounded like a giant metal zipper unzipping. I turned back to look, and right below me was a stunning vision: the cosmos itself was unzipping and opening up!
The colors coming through this opening were brilliant and beautiful, and blended right into the atmosphere around me. The energy shifted, it felt like the universe itself was expanding open from within, releasing a tight old energy. There were sparkly ripples in the air, and I know it doesn’t make sense, but I could hear tinkly soft chimes. It was amazing to be in that place at that exact moment, I feel changed deeply from the experience.
I love my job. I wonder what I’ll get to see tonight?
‘Unzipping the Cosmos’ is an original painting on paper mounted on cradled wood. Find this one of a kind original at my website here.

Mirage
One moment I was walking through an endless lush forest of flower trees, and then I reached the edge. The deep blue midnight skies gave way to a green space, and I saw a couple of odd characters guarding the forest. They seemed protective and friendly to me, and so I stepped forward onto the velvety green.
Looking back I saw the outline of the forest, and realized I’d been walking through a mirage shaped like a cat. It was so funny to me, I giggled all the way back home. When I awoke, I kept finding cat hair everywhere, which is odd because I don’t have a cat.
‘Mirage’ is a one of a kind original painting, acrylic on canvas. Find this piece at my website here.

The Tower
From a distance, the Tower looks like something foreign to the landscape it inhabits, as if it was originally from some far off star or planet. Where did it come from, and who or what chose to put it here? It looks like it crash landed in the meadow across the street, and is making itself at home here.
Occasionally it glows, while emitting a low whistling sound, which is not unpleasant and actually soothing. My neighbor and I leave our homes and stand out front watching and listening. It’s funny, I always feel calmer and happier after one of these episodes.

My Familiar
The Wizard came for tea today, bringing along a new friend of theirs. I’m not surprised whenever the Wizard has someone unique for me to meet. What I didn’t know yet was that this Wizard (who I’ve been friends with for a very long time) had decided it was high time I had a familiar of my very own.
As you can imagine, I was a bit upended, (and also fairly excited to be honest), by this news. Could I actually have a familiar of my very own? What would that mean for my life? The Wizard explained to me the basics of caring for a familiar, and also how we could work together. The familiar and I gave each other the once over, and something apparently clicked for us both, because they live here now. We’re still getting to know each other and figuring out a few things, but it feels like the right thing to do now.
I’ll keep you posted about how it’s going.
‘My Familiar’ is a very special painting! It’s made with acrylic and collage on watercolor paper, then mounted on cradled wood. Find this unique piece at my website.
